Notwithstanding the organisers’ announcement of an Ipex exhibition in 2014, we believe that we have just witnessed the last international Ipex – at least in its current shape, form or location! We do not think that the sales or public signings of at least the heavy metal presses at the show can justify the cost to the exhibitors. If in deed the future customers are in Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East then the shows will have to be suitably geared and located.

Ron Augustin who tracks the major publishing and printing shows, writes about the numbers and the South Asian activity at Ipex. Our own view is that even drupa 2012 cannot take its success for granted – it will have to adapt and change in order to survive as a major international print exhibition.
