Hello,

Today’s hot news is the launch of the Marathi newspaper Dainik Divya Marathi from Aurangabad by DB Corp, publisher of Dainik Bhaskar, Divya Bhaskar and Saurashtra Samachar.

As a part of our continuing education series, we present Shalini S Sharma’s article Learning the ABC of Toddlers’ Books. Urvashi Butalia discusses the importance of book events as a part of publishing and marketing strategy. For the first time, UNICEF merchandise is going to be printed in India through its collaboration with Archies, the well known greeting card company. As part of the deal Archies will produce, retail and distribute UNICEF merchandise in India; the royalty of which will be utilised to fund UNICEF programs in the country.

Events include Jumpstart organised by the German Book Office on 25 and 26 August, a meet of children’s book enthusiasts and professionals in Delhi, the WAN-IFRA 10th International Newspaper Color Quality Club, the only worldwide printing quality competition for newspapers, and the WAN-IFRA World Editors Forum from 12 to 15 October in Vienna.
