The Vodafone Crossword Book Awards 2008 award function was held at the Nehru Centre Auditorium on 23 July 2009. A packed audience that included distinguished writers, publishers, critics, and book-lovers enjoyed the event that is poised to become the biggest celebration of Indian literature. Writer Nayantara Sahgal was the chief guest. She highlighted on the importance of grooming home grown talent. This year the award has generated a huge response from Indian publishers and 176 entries were received for the 3 categories.
