Book printing exports, digitisation, XML tagging and ePublishing services

There is an opportunity for the medium and big commercial printers in India who have started exports in the form of printed books. Printing and binding for foreign publishers can be successful if the runs are reasonably long and the lead times for books allow sea shipment from Indian ports. Savvy and competitive printers are attending international book fairs to show samples and they are importing automated binding equipment to meet international quality requirements. However, the prices they are quoting are often based only on the indirect benefits and concessions by the government and they are still suffering from the high import duties on equipment and inputs such as paper. ...cont´d
