Four years ago the DI press seemed doomed to slow extinction, overtaken by faster-evolving standalone platesetters on the one hand, and ever more efficient variable data ‘true digital’ printers on the other. But now it seems, DI is fighting back and it’s tapping into the latest trends of web-to-print and environmental awareness. Presstek’s introduction of UV-cured ink versions of its DI presses at drupa had visitors literally falling over themselves for a better look.
