Chawri Bazaar is still the heart of the paper distribution industry in the National Capital Region of Delhi. We visited it recently to see for ourselves the effects of the printing industry moving away to far-flung industrial estates in the city and increasingly out of the city. The New Delhi Metro now has a stop at Chawri Bazaar but on the street level there are few visible changes in the overall style of business. Paper can no longer be distributed from the store-front paper businesses; this can only done from other premises meant for storage and where trucks are allowed.
