Some observations since the Frankfurt Book Fair

Year after year, the Frankfurt Book Fair sets global publishing trends for the years to follow, mainly by the licensing deals struck during the event. At its latest edition in October 2002, we witnessed some developments that seem to be in sharp contrast with the sluggishness of the economy as a whole. In the year since September 11, 2001, there has been a boom in the market for children's books (worldwide 8% up), books on religion and inner values, and an undercurrent of works critical of the existing world order. ...cont´d
