Cost-cutting helps Heidelberg pare losses

Orders from Asia-Pacific at five-year high

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, one of the leading solution providers of sheetfed offset printing machines for the print media industry around the world, has managed to bring down losses through higher sales, reduction in costs, and reorganisation of operations. The first quarter results for 2010-11 (April to June 2010) show the German company had a higher net income of EUR –35 million compared to EUR –22 million in the same period last year. Profit before taxes improved to EUR -56 million (previous year: EUR -86 million), while net loss was EUR -52 million (previous year: EUR -69 million). There was a 43 per cent rise in incoming orders at EUR 786 million compared to the same period last year (EUR 550 million) which was 16 per cent higher than the previous quarter (EUR 678 million). ...cont´d
