I was invited by HP to attend a digital printing seminar held on 28 August 2008 in Singapore. This was primarily an event for current customers of HP although a few potential customers were also present. Since Ipex 1998, one complaint I have heard repeatedly against digital press vendors is that they are not so interested in supplying a workable solution as they are in shipping their ‘boxes’ out in numbers. Although I cannot make a general comment on any improvement in this situation now, I must say that the HP people I met in Singapore did not seem to be guilty of this. The effort they are making to educate both their prospective and existing customers -- in encouraging them to realise the full potential of Variable Data Printing (VDP) is commendable. ...cont´d
