English comics and graphic novels

In the first Content & Media newsletter we wrote about desi comics — comics in Hindi. Now we are talking about English comics at the Delhi Book Fair, even though we saw some Bengali comics at the Kolkatta Book Fair stand. These were more like Billo and Pinki of Diamond comics and meant for very young children just learning to read. Lets look at some of the more innovative things that publishers in the Delhi Book Fair are exhibiting, like graphic novels. Two publishers at the Delhi Book Fair had graphic novels — Penguin Books under their Puffin brand had The Feluda Mysteries of Satyajit Ray and Kalyani Navyug Media is showing its Campfire series. ...cont´d
