BILT gets environment certification

On 11 August 2009, Ballarpur Industries Limited (BILT), part of the US$ 3 billion (Rs. 14,000 crore) Avantha Group, and India’s largest paper company, announced that two of its manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra have received the international Forest Stewardship Council-Chain of Custody (FSC-COC) certification. These certifications apply to BILT’s units at Bhigwan in Pune district (SCS-COC-002612) and Ashti in Ghadchiroli district (SCS-COC-002610). The Forest Stewardship Council is an international organization that promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world’s forests.
