Laptops holding the future of the book?

It may seem unlikely, but it has been extremely hard to find someone actually reading a book at this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair. Even the many eBook reading devices on show were looked at in order to compare technologies, and not to leaf through a text. The one device that definitely seemed to absorb exhibitors as much as their guests, was — the laptop. Not one exhibition booth was without its panoply of handhelds, notebooks, iPad tablets and laptops, not one presentation without the use of a computer, not one publisher or agent or distributor or retailer or printer or journalist without their laptop.
