Kerry J Northrup, now a Turner Multimedia Professor at Western Kentucky University worked for administrative issues with US newspapers. In mid nineties he joined IFRA at a time when web was starting to appear and people were starting to deal with issues of digital archiving. In a period of over six years, he worked with more than three dozen newsrooms in more than twenty countries around the world including Ananda Bazar Patrika, Mid Day and Malayalam Manorama in India. Northrup was primarily engaged in streamlining processes in terms of improving communication between different parts of the newsroom and identifying technology that would help journalists and editors do their job better.
