Garnett Papers, a speciality and fine paper firm, moved its hardcore manufacturing from the UK to Vapi, Gujarat, in 2006. Founded 200 years ago at Otley, West Yorkshire, in the UK, P Garnett and Son was a family run company till 1988 when it was taken over by its current promoters who are a part of the AU Group led by Mahendra Mehta, a UK-based real estate magnate. While Garnett Papers’ head office is in Wetford, Hertfordshire in the UK, the entire paper manufacturing and research and development is now based in Vapi -- about two hours from Mumbai. The only way to describe Garnett’s variety of paper weights, textures and colours is – sexy!
