Heidelberg has introduced a new RIP and workflow management system, designed to sit below its high end Prinergy workflow system co-developed with CreoScitex. The new MetaDimension RIP is a purely Heidelberg product based on Adobe's CPSI technology plus Heidelberg's colour management technology with support for Signastation, Signapack and SuperTrap. Initially intended as a gateway to PDF workflows for general commercial clients, MetaDimensions will be an important foundation for Heidelberg's future workflow system developments however. Heidelberg's declared workflow objective is to develop technologies capable of driving any Heidelberg output device, but which can be customised for specific workflows used in the "print for pay" market.
