Heidelberg installs the first Printmaster PM74 4-colour in India

The Printmaster 74 4-colour press was introduced in India in December 2001 including a memorable and well-attended launch session at the IPP8 conference in New Delhi. It has taken a while for the machine to start selling and it is clear that the Indian market is extremely price conscious and that second hand four colour presses continue to be imported not only because of sometimes marginally lower prices but also because they allow printers to continue to break the law with impunity by under-invoicing their imports and avoiding some part of the more than 50 per cent customs duty. Nevertheless in a banner year for sheetfed multicolour press imports, in which Heidelberg has sold more premium Speedmasters than Printmasters, the Printmaster 4-colours have started arriving and one expects that by March end two or three presses will be installed for sure including a press in Mumbai. ...cont´d
