As a fair for print media professionals, Ifra Expo has catered, over the years, to a dual interest. Newspaper and magazine publishers often included the exhibition and other Ifra activities in their explorations for investments in printing press configurations, but they’ve also been sending their production staff to check out the increasingly diverse range of software solutions for prepress and press automation, ad handling, content management and cross-media publishing. The days when the Ifra Expo mainly spoke of innovations in iron and steel definitely belong to the past, but the show still offers an opportunity to follow the latest developments in press technology, albeit in multimedia presentations and discussions on integration, automation, closed loop controls, and format flexibility. Nonetheless, most of the offerings on show this year related to auxiliary systems such as washing devices, prepress, and mailroom equipment, workflow solutions and interfaces, and newsroom software applications. ...cont´d
