MeadWestvaco sets up Indian Joint Venture

MeadWestvaco (MWV), one of the world’s largest packaging companies, have made a strong statement on their intentions to enter India by buying up 51 per cent equity in a JV with Wadco Packaging Private Ltd., a leading domestic manufacturer of corrugated packaging. The JV will focus on providing specialised corrugated packaging to India’s fresh produce market using MWV’s proven corrugated packaging design, manufacturing and technologies to supplement Wadco’s strengths in the business. The potential is forecast as very good since almost 40 per cent value of fresh produce is lost before it reaches the market because of inefficient post-harvest practices, processing and handling.
