Newspaper industry reps baulk at wage recommendations

Merged basic pay and 30 to 35 per cent hike

The UPA law minister Veerapan Moily has postponed the government acceptance of the two wage boards’ combined recommendation for increasing the compensation to journalists and non-journalists working in newspaper and news agency establishments. On 31 December 2010, the chairman of the National Wage Boards for Working Journalists and other Newspaper Employees, retired judge GR Majithia and the members of the Wage Boards presented their final report to PC Chaturvedi, secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, New Delhi. ...cont´d
