Pantone Plus takes colour into the 21st century

The venerable but still hugely successful Pantone Matching System for colour specification has been finally brought into the 21st Century with the announcement of the Pantone Plus Series in May. This keeps all the original colours while adding plenty of new ones, particularly in the solid and metallic sets. Just as importantly it also rearranges the outdated colour orders into a logical chromatic sequence for the visual guides – the fans, chip books and on-screen palettes. Supporting this is new software to help on-screen choice of colours and to update existing design programs. “The Plus Series provides designers with greater freedom for selecting, specifying, and matching colour,” said Ron Potesky, senior vice president and general manager of Pantone, in a statement announcing the update. “And, since the Pantone Plus Series is based on the widely used Pantone Matching System, there's no training or new equipment required to start pushing the boundaries of creativity.” ...cont´d
