Learning the ABC of Toddlers’ Books

Four-year old Ritwik Chakravorty is too young to go to a formal school where the required age for admission is six years but he is inside a school, nevertheless — a play school. He comes here to play, not study, and learn a few basic concepts like shapes, colours and listen to rhymes and stories. There are no books in the school, only stuffed toys, plastic blocks and a play pen. He comes here to learn to stay away from the home environment and prepare for the gruel of a formal school life.
