Rotatek crosses the 40 machine mark in India

June 09, 2009 | By the IPP Desk

Rotatek SA of Spain has installed the forty first Rotatek narrow web combination press at the premises of a security printer in South India. The Rotatek combination press with a web width of 520 mm is equipped with 8 offset and 2 flexo printing units. This is the second installation at the same printing unit, whose identity remains  secret for not impinging on the confidentiality of the project. Installed within a remarkably short period of 10 days from the date of delivery of goods to the factory, this equipment boasts of a number of new features launched recently by Rotatek.

A feature is the possibility of a new design flexo cassette to be installed in the offset towers allowing a standard offset tower to be changed without tools into a flexo unit while using the same drives and UV dryers.  This flexibility allows the printer to switch from an 8 offset + 2 Flexo configuration to a 6 offset + 4 flexo configuration allowing for a 20 minutes turnaround time depending on the job configuration.
Handling of papers up to 350 GSM and 450 microns in thickness has also been improved with a reinforced in-feed and pulling unit. Thus, the machine is useful in the production of board packaging as well as the production of prepaid cards.

An automatic register control from Eltromat of Germany has reduced set up time as well as set up waste to ensure that the press produces more sellable material than ever before, thus improving the ROI considerably. The machine has capabilities of adding on a hot foil stamping unit, a cold foil stamping unit, a rotary die cut unit and on line Kodak Versamark Ink jet system and the possibility of adding chill rolls to print on shrink sleeves and unsupported films.

With the success of the newly launched “Sleeve Press Universal” and the intermittent press “Brava” in the world markets, the CEO of Rotatek, Bibiana Rodriguez said, “Our large investments in research and development in the past 3 years have ensured that we stay ahead of the recessionary curve for the moment. This when a number of our competitors have been facing severe financial difficulties, we have managed to stay financially healthy. We hope that an imminent end to the recession will ensure that we are up and running much before the competition.”

Ranesh Bajaj, Director Marketing at Creed Engineers, “The flexibility in design and the quick responses to the requests for special projects has always been Rotatek’s forte. As many of our customers in the region will bear us out this has been one of the main reasons for the success of both Rotatek and Creed”.
