Indian newsstands will soon be filled with new magazines. The press is also writing quite a bit about them. With Indian government allowing foreign direct investment, and up to 100 per cent in non news periodicals, several magazines, journals and newspapers are about to hit the Indian market. Some of the new magazines are Top Gear, Computeractive, Marie Claire, and an India savvy edition of Newsweek. Local media companies are also not far behind in launching journals and starting editions from new centres. Commodities and derivates' magazine Foretell, Chennai Corporate News, Electronic Programme Guide, IPTV, and Vichar Saransh, a Hindi language magazine, are in the pipeline. JAM (Just Another Magazine), is planning to print an edition from Delhi, apart from its Mumbai edition. Media Transasia has plans for another two or three foreign titles for India by end-2006, but isn’t talking yet on what these could be. ...cont´d
