In India there is no law against cross ownership of media. As print publishers have gone into broadcasting, increasingly, broadcasters are getting into the print media. And although growth seems to be increasing fragmentation, we expect to see some consolidation in the media industry in coming years. This may take unexpected forms such as the joint venture of Zee Telefilms and the Dainik Bhaskar group for launching DNA, the new English daily broadsheet in Mumbai.
