Launched and soon to be launched mags

2009 was a difficult year for the media industry. With the economic crunch and market slow down, though not as bad as the West, print media revenue certainly went down. With advertising budgets contracting, the saving grace was government stimuli that kept the auto industry well oiled and the newspaper industry subsidised with higher prices for government advertising. Paper prices also moderated over the past year and in stead of major magazines closing down new magazines and revivals have kept emerging. Thus, inspite of lower pagination and reduced circulations, we saw many new magazines been launched in 2009-10. The new year has started with new magazine launches and plans from some big names later this year. Most publishers are claiming that they will target niche audiences at this time and agree that circulations have come down. ...cont´d
