Trade houses in the print industry flowered and even mushroomed in the 1980s and 1990s. Those were the days of big scanners, colour retouching systems and imagesetters. They thrived in the era of digital filmsetters and when ad agencies paid an hourly premium for ‘system time’ for retouching.
