At the Jaipur Literary Festival earlier this year, the financiers, the DSC group, announced a new literary award, the DSC prize for South Asian literature, which carries a purse of US$ 50,000 (approximately INR 22.5 lakhs). This year, the Vodafone Crossword award increased its categories — from fiction, non-fiction and translations — to include children’s writing.
