Volcanic blow to London Book Fair

The pictures from Iceland were pretty, but they were not appreciated by the 20,000 book professionals who were supposed to attend the London Book Fair this year. About one fifth of the exhibitors and more than a third of the trade visitors couldn’t make it to the fair because of the flight ban decreed in the wake of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano eruption and its ash cloud over Europe. Between 50 and 80 per cent of the scheduled meetings had to be cancelled. Former PM Tony Blair was supposed to talk about his forthcoming memoirs at a Random House event, but he was stranded in the Middle East. ...cont´d
