As far back as the beginning of 2008, major CtP manufacturers predicted the flattening of the world market for computer to plate output devices. The Indian printers generally adopt new technologies a bit more slowly. They wait to see if the technology really works and they wait for the prices to come down since they have to pay a customs duty on imported equipment. And they are always concerned by the price of consumables since their printing rates, at less than a dollar a colour per thousand for a 74 centimetre 4-colour press, may be amongst the lowest in the world.
