Radical new design for the Cromoman 4 x 1

To a large extent it is the Indian newspapers that have driven the 4 x 1 newspaper web offset press market in the past five years. Although this configuration was pioneered by manroland, KBA and Goss with the Regioman, Prisma and Uniliner respectively, Indian newspapers have persuaded the Japanese manufacturers (Mitsubishi, Seikan and TKS) to come up with 4 x 1 presses at 70,000 cph for which they have become the first customer while Manugraph has also developed and sold its first 4 x 1 press which is ready and awaits installation. Now it seems that manroland has actually designed and built a press for Indian market conditions — a project that it has been working on for the past three years. The first installations at Bennett, Coleman & Co are expected to start by mid-year. Naresh Khanna reports on this development. ...cont´d
