On August 26, 2008, Screen announced the immediate availability of TrueFlow SE Version 6.0, the latest version of Screen’s JDF-enabled, PDF fully automated prepress production workflow. Incorporating the Adobe PDF Print Engine to ensure consistent and predictable output, Screen’s TrueFlow SE v6.0 offers a number of innovative productivity-driven functions in addition to standard file checking, OPI support, trapping and imposition and several other prepress functions.
Schematic of Screen's futuristic JDF workflow
The new Trueflow SE is designed to drive both optimised CtP production and digital printing presses, to enable existing users to move easily from a PDF and PostScript workflow into a JDF-based environment and achieve seamless communication with Management Information Systems (MIS).
New features include OutlinePDF-Advance, a versatile and interchangable format so that with embedded fonts operators can choose whether or not to outline broken lines and elements containing line segments. When step-and-repeat processing is used to position the same data repeatedly, the RIP data can be reused, which significantly reduces data volumes and processing time.
Digital page inspection significantly improves output reliability by offering an automated method of checking the post-RIPped file against the original PDF file and flagging up any data interpretation differences.
Trueflow SE v6.0 supports a more flexible design environment that includes multi-layer PDFs. To create multiple versions at once, the operator simply selects the necessary elements and gives the output command.
The advanced PDF route supports operations using PDF Trapeditor, an Adobe Acrobat plug-in that makes it possible to edit traps created by Trueflow SE. PDF Trapeditor can be used in both Windows and Mac environments.
Trueflow SE Version 6.0 is compatible with the newest profiles from PitStop, an Adobe Acrobat plugin that optimizes PDFs for their intended use. When combined with a strong PDF preflight function, PitStop contributes to the creation of a remarkably stable PDF workflow.
