The presentation of German culture and literature on 1,000 square metres at the Beijing Book Fair comprises a diverse selection of book displays, exhibitions and events.
These will be accompanied by a professional programme and – as a highlight of the fair's accompanying events – a “Long Night” featuring twelve hours of literature, art and music currently on the agenda in Germany. The fair and the German presentation will be officially opened on 29 August 2007 in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
The appearance as part of the campaign “Germany – Land of Ideas” launches a series of “Germany in China” activities headlined “Germany and China – On the Move Together” and scheduled for China's big cities from autumn 2007 through to the World Exhibition in Shanghai 2010. The Guest of Honour presentation is organised by the Frankfurt Book Fair in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut China and with funding from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and the Federal Foreign Office.
