July 31, 2008

Anderson Printing House Private Limited, Kolkata inaugurated Heidelberg’s first CtP in India on February 12. Effectively using their Heidelberg Speedmaster 52 4-colour press to turnaround 20 to 25 full colour signatures a day Anderson made an impact in the Eastern and national printing market. Maintaining their tradition of forward thinking, Anderson is the first commercial printing house in the Eastern Region of India to install the HP Indigo Digital Press 1050 on June 22, 2006. There are 12 other installations of HP Indigo machines, nationwide. The HP Indigo Digital Press 1050 is the right choice for commercial printers needing to provide superior high quality digital colour printing with short runs that have variable text and images on each copy. The Indigo can offer very bright offset quality and prints up to six colours. It can print variable data, short-print run and print on demand applications for colour brochures, inserts, flyers and direct mail at competitive rates.Anderson is now empowered by HP Indigo technology to offer value-added products that comply with the challenging needs for commercial printing. “We are proud to bring the latest technology to out city,” said Mr. NK Kajaria, Managing Director, Anderson Printing House Pvt Ltd. “There are days where we require more than 200 plates,” said N K Kajaria, at the time Anderson installed its new Heidelberg Speedmaster 52 4-colour press in 2004. With the installation of the HP Indigo press, he now says, “Digital Printing is here to stay.”Kajaria also said that though digital printing may be the current catchphrase, it cannot replace offset, at least not in the immediate future. All the same Kajaria took the risk of investing in the costly Indigo 1050. He has faith this digital press will give him good profit margins within the next three to four years. According to HP, India has a steady growth in digital printing, in 2002–2003 there was an increase of 44 per cent, in the year 2003–2004 it was 45 per cent and it experienced 40 per cent growth in 2004–2005. BuzzwordThe Indigo machine at Anderson will enable close attention to its customers to provide printing and graphic services including advertising and promotional material, annual reports, corporate brochures, calendars, greeting cards and product labels.“By focusing on the ‘total customer experience’ of our customer – Anderson Printing house has displayed how they can best execute the high-value digital applications that are driving growth in the printing industry,” said Nagesh Karuturi, country manager, HP Indigo Digital Publishing Solutions, Imaging and Printing group, HP India. “With the installation of the HP Indigo Digital Press 1050, Anderson will offer a level of quality that meets the stringent standards of the graphic arts industry,” he added. HP Digital presses meet the professionals’ specific needs for high-volume production of marketing collaterals, test marketing samples, photo specialty, publishing, labels, flexible packaging, security printing and speciality printing with the quality of traditional offset. Printing in fluorescent colours in addition to six colour printing and match Pantone colours by using HP’s Indichrome technology is another customer option. The HP Indigo technology enables printers to use invisible inks and micro text up to 0.58 pt for security printing. A Seybold report says that, Indigo presses can make available a colour consistency up to 1000 prints, on substrates ranging from 80 GSM to 350 GSM.
