Autoprint — from zero to over 4700 installations in 12 years

October 07, 2005

Autoprint has at least one installation in every district of India. It designs and launches a new machine every year and manufactures and sells three machines every day. The company increasingly talks about “a new category of printer” – the implication is that the buyers of their mini-offset, label, and now 4-colour presses and other equipment represent a new market segment committed to quality, performance, and fast growth. A category of nimble fast growing printers committed to providing professional and prompt services to all kinds of print buyers. Autoprint itself sets an example with innovative marketing such as its’ use of a truck containing a demonstration press to travel around the country. It was also the first graphic arts company to set up a toll-free information and contact number.

Autoprint’s leadership position in the industry stems from the company’s obsession with providing products and services at global quality standards. The company received the Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award for excellence in the small scale manufacturing industry. In 2002 Autoprint received its ISO 9001-2000 certification from TUV Suddeutschland AG, for design, production and marketing of the entire product range. In that year it also won recognition as a “stalwart” of the Indian printing industry at the National Awards for Excellence in Printing.

The company has won the ‘Best Technology Award’ from the National Small Industries Corporation four times consecutively. The company takes seriously its role in significantly altering the global perception of Indian manufactured printing machines. Its products have found acceptance and praise in a global market that includes USA, Russia, Greece, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Nepal, Bhutan, Oman, UAE, UAQ, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Botswana and Macedonia and many other regions and countries.

Autoprint products (primarily presses) incorporate customer-centric design, innovation and cost-effectiveness. Its research and development professionals design and develop machines using some of the most sophisticated technology in the world. The company is widely recognised for its marketing and customer servicing skills.

New products Quadra 450 4-colour press
The Autoprint product range includes several new products such as the Quadra 450 4-colour press first shown at Printpack in New Delhi in January 2005, its Gamut 300 label printing machine, and the Setmaster Collator manufactured under license from Setmaster Ltd., in UK. The Quadra 450 4-colour press has a stream feeder that handles paper up to 380 x 520 mm; the printing unit uses the 7’0 clock cylinder configuration and the ink train contains three oscillators and three form rollers while the dampening system is a Kompac system with three rollers. Modern fitments include punch registration, pull side lays on both sides and a touch screen control panel. The company is being methodical and careful in its introduction of the press with long and serious testing at the initial beta sites.

The Gamut rotary letterpress label printing machine is designed to print on a wide variety of printing material from paper to film to satin taffeta! The intermittent press (it stops and starts for in-line flatbed die cutting) is sold with a choice of options such as UV dryers, web viewers, corona treatment, and video inspection systems. The Autoprint Gamut 300 can integrate three different types of post printing options in line — the DC 300 die-cutting unit, the SH 300 sheeter, and a rewinder with slitter.

The Autoprint Setmaster Collator produces flatter booklets at high speed. Its modular construction, sophisticated technology, standardized components and optimised features make it one of the most sought-after collating machines around the world. The Setmaster stitching, folding and trimming machine complements the Autoprint Setmaster suction-feed collators handling a variety of materials including laminated covers and art board. Available in SRA3, 35 X 50, SRA2 or SRA1 sizes, the machine automatically collates, stitches, folds, and does single or 3-knife trimming in a single pass.

The new Autoprint Pack to Pack 7000 handles forms of any size from 4 to 19 inches wide and 8 to 13 inches in length, without changing the cylinders. The Autoprint PTP 50 NB (Numbering/ Bar Coding/ MICR) can number almost every type of standard and complex form or document including pre-numbered high-security documents such as bank cheques and demand drafts. It can also bar code freight documents and a wide variety of forms. Logos, delivery dockets, invoices, symbols and patterns. It is unique in being able to print multiple impressions in a single form length using only one bar coding or numbering head.

Autoprint also continues to manufacture its range of single colour mini-offsets such as the G25 Colt (1510), V50 Colt (1520), V25FL (1510), V50 FL (1520), and the Knight 1520. The Knight 250CB is a 2-colour press. Its Reckoner is a suction-feed rotary numbering machine, and the Autoprint Tag’ O 100 is a label press.
